For more than 18 years, A Window Between Worlds (awbw.org) has been the only national organization that provides free art leader training and art supplies to Domestic Violence (DV) shelters. Art provides a direct, gentle, and effective way for women and children to reconnect with parts of themselves that they shut off in order to survive the violence.
By supporting AWBW, you are helping thousands of women and children to heal from the deep impact of domestic violence through art workshops. This year more than 55,000 women and children will began the process of ending domestic violence as a result of programs in 25 states.
EVERY one of us is touched by domestic violence or trauma in some way. Healing is a process and A Window Between Worlds introduces victims of domestic violence to a unique way to move towards healing. AWBW is art for healing, not art therapy. Art therapists come to AWWB to get trained because the process works. Imagine a world where there was no violence. It all begins when we do what we can, when we can. One person can make a difference, just as ONE program makes a difference.
Budget cuts have drastically affected DV programs and AWBW is stepping up to the plate. Will you?
